Got the chance to see Rich in action on Saturday. He handled that beast easily. Watching him pull into the yard at Altoona was a real hi lite of the weekend. He safely and efficiently delivered his consist. We chatted a bit. There was a little wheel slippage on the way back out of the yard. It was great to see him at the "wheel" so to speak.

I appreciate the kudos, Marty, and I enjoyed our brief conversation. However, please don't forget that there were a lot of other people "...in action..." there, too. I am just one member of a truly great team of dedicated men and women on the 765's crew.
Rich
So right you are. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the symphony of men servicing and detailing the engine while in Altoona. I am happy to have had the chance to see it it action as well as the many folks who tolerated us watching over them. Quite a bit goes on during the short layover.
Clearly though my comments were meant to be a bit tongue in cheek regarding you, because at the time you were driving the van! It was still great to chat for a bit.
I missed that. Sorry.
Yep...I was the "Designated Driver" all weekend. We had to shuffle some people around at the last minute due to a members' family emergency on Friday. I assigned myself to drive the crew van all weekend, taxiing the 2nd shift operating crew to Altoona from the hotel in Harrisburg.
Just wondering who was on the engine crew from Altoona to Conway. They put on an impressive show, as always, coming up Carney Hill from Latrobe!
A huge thanks to 765's crew, FWRHS, and NS for another great show of big steam power.
They put on a great show coming through West Park too!
I 'saw' Rich in action from one of the coaches, NS046 I believe. It was a wonderful trip that I will always remember. How great it was to be able to experience Horseshoe Curve behind one of the great iconic steam beasts!! Wow, now if only we could get a PRR T-1 to do that!
