Allot of my friends who usually go to York twice a years think that April York is not worth it to attend since some vendors and mfgs like Lionel is not attending.

Is anybody else finding this to be the case also?

Im attending and will continue to attend twice a year till the TCAED says no more twice a year or God calls me home.

I won’t be going to York next week, but it is totally unrelated to the attendance of some of the manufacturers - I’m having my second knee replacement on the 16th, so I have more important things on my mind at the moment. I really hope to make it in October (which would be my first visit on two good knees!!!). Going forward, I will go to either because I am most interested in the multitude of vendors who sell things like buildings, accessories, signage, die-cast, etc.

Nobody goes there anymore...it's too crowded!   ...LOL.  I cannot say anything about the spring York as it hasn't happened yet...Anyways, count me in....Speaking of attendance,  we'll see about 2 or 3pm on Thursday when train folks are milling about between halls.....then the Quacker Steak and Lube dinner might be a good measure of crowd size!   Being at York beats thinking of York.

I'm attending again and will continue to do so. Along with Les Livingston I helped organize two carter buses from Long Island to York for 10 years. The ridership has fallen but the new group running the buses ( Railroad Museum of Long Island)is still needing two buses but they aren't sold out like in the old days. Unfortunately many riders have passed on or physically can't do all the walking. No one that I know is overly concerned that some manufacturers are not showing up, these corporations will therefore not be showing off their new products and not getting our interest peaked. MTH is the smart one. Not only do they show off their products, they sell some items at really good prices, they give out their catalog to club members, you can join their club there, and often Mike Wolf is there and approachable. York is wonderful and hopefully will continue for years to come and those that post negatives about York aren't always looking at the reality of our hobby, it is shrinking!    Lenny J

I will be there. Once again being a TCA member is actually saving me money because I contracted out with Mr.Muffin and his carpenter to build me a display case and Mr.Muffin was super nice to bring the display case to York thus saving me a load of money in shipping costs. This will cover the cost of my TCA membership this year. True this doesn’t happen every year but this isn’t the first time it has happened.

Lenny, I rode your bus 2 times and I really enjoyed it. Great bunch of of guys. I stopped only because I don’t like getting up so early (2am) to make the bus. I know that can’t be helped. I had a hard time sleeping on the bus and I just felt groggy all day. I have since moved 15 minutes closer to York (still 2.5 hours without traffic). The bus definitely makes sense if you are in the city or Long Island. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for your hospitality.

I will be there twice year.....it has always been a great 3 day break from the rigors of work. Yes, I have too many trains and I don't need anymore. Yes, it is a more of a social event (seeing friends from all over the country that I have met on this Forum and through the TCA)..........but, I still end up spending a fair amount of money and finding things that "I didn't realize I needed"

I go to York for many different reasons, buying trains is only a small part.  However, since I’m only interested in newer scale steam/diesel with all the bells/whistles (or the bells/whistles can be added), I will miss seeing the new stuff from the manufacturers.

Also, since there is no DCS or Legacy meetings this time I’m only attending Friday’s show.  It will be a long day but I’ll save a bit not paying for a room.

I'll be there it's a great retreat from dealing with death and dying on a daily basis and dealing with families stress at a difficult time and I will help the economy to boot!!!! I love this hobby and want to do my part to share live and promote it on all levels.Life evolves and changes York is all part of it .This York 61 for me. York is going to evolve back to a true train meet, Its been a meet/show and cost factors and demographics are changing that.it's funny how life goes full circle

Too me York is not about the manufactures. They bring nothing to the party. Spend your time in the member halls. They have the best bargains. April will be successful as always.

Wow, well we look forward to seeing everyone at York. We always try to have new stuff for people for each York meet. It sometimes is hard being only 6 months between meets. This York we have a thank you gift for our customers, past and present. Everyone, have safe travels and I am looking forward to this week!

I'm planning on attending, and this will be my FIRST York!

As I live in the Baltimore area, I'll be coming for the day - still haven't decided, once and for all, however, if it will be Thursday or Friday.  While Friday would be a full day, Thursday would give me a better chance of fulfilling my wish list (top items are GGD B&O Heavyweights - baggage, sleepers, diner, coaches, and observation cars).

While I very much like my Lionel and Atlas items, it doesn't really matter to me if they are in attendance at the meet.  I, do, however, want to stop by the Sunset Models booth, as I really love the 3rd Rail/GGD items I already own.

Also, hoping to stop by the OGR both to express my gratitude, in person, for hosting the OGR Forum!

I am currently in Lebanon Tenn and half way to York.

The "manufacturers " occupy less than 0.001% of my time and attention.

It's a collector's train show and that's what I go there for.  It's the best place to see people from Ohio,  North Carolina,  Georgia, Michigan, Jersey,  Pennsylvania,  et al and the trains they have for sale.   The rest I can buy on the internet.

I'm sorry JD, you're too late. York is over. Done. Kaput.

Didn't you hear that Lionel is not going to be there!?! Neither is Atlas. Or Carlisle & Finch!

October, it was like a ghost town - barely 10,000 people. Sickening.

Well, back in the old, days... Well! You just had to be there. You were just born too late, young pup.

I've only been going to York for three years now, and if this meet is dead or dying, it's the most exciting, most energetic dead, dying thing I've ever seen or heard of! You're going to love it!

Scott Mann from 3rd Rail will, I believe, be at York. At least he planned to be if he made it back from one of his multitude of Asia trips (I don't know how he does it).

OGR will NOT have its customary booth in the Orange Hall, although we will be back at our usual space in October. Ed Boyle and I are both attending the meet, and Ed will be hosting the usual Friday at 2 pm Forum Member Meeting at the grandstand.

I haven't been able to attend the April meet yet, this year same thing. Just had hernia surgery March 27th and have my follow up on April 11th. This year for me there'll be a lot of changes going on(which should be for the better fixed hernia included) and that should make things even better next year. If everything goes in my favor come fall I'll be there in October and will definitely make plans to be there in April next year.

I do know a few other friends who are dealing with health issues and I hope that they're able to come out on top and see them in October.

Regardless of who is there or not, the meet is more about all of us and what we enjoy, trains and talking nonstop about them. So what if a few of the manufacturers aren't there, have a great time without them. Have wonderful conversations with all the brothers and sisters of railroading, see what is cooking in they're neck of the woods, and have a blast. York always offers something for you, just have to find it. Whether its new friendships, new items, new ideas, or seeing the great layouts.
