Selecting engines from yard track

If your engines are TMCC or Legacy command controlled, yes. If your engines are conventional, no, without added equipment. With Legacy, your current setup, and a powermaster/ bridge or track power controller you could run conventionally with the cab2. Add a block power controller and  you could leave your transformer handles on full and eliminate the switches and control 4 blocks.

You can, but for me personally, I have "toggled" sidings and yard tracks even though I run strictly command. I see no point in having a loco receiving power if I'm not using it, and this eliminates the risk of damage from some freak short, surge or whatever. Not to mention if you ever were to leave a switch turned into the yard inadvertantly, no power means the train would stop before hitting a parked loco.

I had an old voltmeter that had burned up. I removed the rotary selector switch which has about 20 positions and use it to route power to my roundhouse (9 stalls and 11 other outside tracks. Use 1 on/off toggle to turn power on after track is selected.

I use BPC'S to toggle on and off my yard tracks and sidings with my Cab-2.

I'm with ricko,i use toggle switches for all my sidings & yard tracks why have an engine drawing power when it is not being used.

I, too use a BPC to control power to 4 yards / sidings / spurs.
