Hello all. For a while now, I have been wanting to sell some of my trains that I no longer use. I understand how to sell on eBay, but I am not very certain on how to do it here on the forum. The thing in particular that I don't understand is payment. How exactly do people pay one another through the forum? I think it would be nice if I could have stuff on eBay for one price, and then a little bit cheaper here for forum members, almost like an exclusive offer type thing. If someone could just give me a run down of the entire forum-sale process, that would be extremely helpful.

Thank you.

Here are the basic rules, copied and pasted from the Buy/Sell/Trade forum:

This For Sale or Trade forum is provided by OGR Publishing Inc. as a free service of the OGR On-Line Forum.

OGR Publishing, Inc. cannot vouch for the accuracy or authenticity of any items posted here.

OGR Publishing, Inc. will not get involved in mediating any disputes that may arise between buyers and sellers using this For Sale forum.

The posting rules here are pretty simple:

  • OGR Forum members may post items for sale in this forum only.
  • You are allowed ONE POST PER DAY.
  • If you have multiple items to sell, put them all in a SINGLE post.
  • You must list a price for each of your items. This is not an auction site.
  • Conversations about the products being sold should be done via email, not via additional posts on the thread.
  • "Bumping" is not permitted.
If a post is added to your thread, that will "bump" it to the top. If you do that, the entire thread may be deleted.
  • If you add or delete items from your original post or change the price(s) by a significant amount, you may add a post to the thread announcing that. We won't consider that to be a bump.
  • Do NOT post "Email Sent." or other communications like that.
That is considered a "bump" and the post will be deleted anyway.
  • Use pictures! Items listed with pictures sell much faster than items listed without pics.

We hope you enjoy using this For Sale or Trade Forum!

Let's not complicate things.  When the buyer and seller agree upon a price, they then agree on how to transfer funds.  PayPal, personal check, certified check, bank check, wire transfer, postal money order or cash. Some of these methods have a fee associated with the transfer.  For example, PayPal has two modes.  One is associated with about a 3% fee which either the payee absorbs or the payer adds to the money sent. It is between the buyer and seller.  John in Lansing, ILL

as a seller, its your option which way you want to get paid. i list personal check[must clear] ,usps money order, and paypal as forms of payment. as in  the retail setting, the buyer pays you[the seller] before items are shipped. also, it helps to post an email address for contact info. and replying here on the forum should be an absolutely last resort.

john covered forms of payment in his post above mine.

Harry, think of it this way...

The OGR For Sale Forum is nothing more than a "bulletin board" where you can list your item for sale. That's it. How you choose to get paid is totally between you and your buyer. OGR is not involved at all in any payment methods.

Keep in mind that the For Sale Forum is for individuals selling excess pieces out of of their collections. Dealers are not allowed to post items for sale there.

The posting rules here are pretty simple:

Allan, these points are obsolete now, there are no replies allowed in the For-Sale or Wanted-to-Buy forums.
