This coming weekend on October 10-11, SGMA will setup and operate a small table top layout at the Texas Western Train Show held at the Forest Hill Civic & Convention Center, 6901 Wichita St., Forest Hill, TX.  Unlike our spectacular "modular" layouts, at this show we will simply be operating our wonderful tinplate trains on a few loops of Standard Gauge track setup on some joined convention hall tables.  Nevertheless, it should be alot of fun so if you are in the area, please stop by and say 'HI'!

Unfortunately it won't be.  I wish it was as that would mean we would have gotten enough SGMA members to volunteer to come to the show to erect a modular layout.  Are you interested in joining SGMA as we need more SGMA members in Texas and I might have a great deal for you on some modules.

As for SG trains to watch, I'm bringing an Osesik circus set pulled by a MTH Ives steamer, a Lionel Christmas freight set, a MTH Ives Olympian set, and a MTH #10 Milwaukee Road passenger set.  Don't know what others are bringing.

I was a non-active member of the original Syracuse NY-based group when it started up.  I still have the red t-shirt and the blue dress shirt from the time.  I donated my two straight modules to the Syracuse-based group several years ago, but I don't know where they are now.  I last saw the SGMA set up at the Milwaukee Train show about three years ago.  I wish they would consider setting up at my show (banner below) in Syracuse again.

I will be in the Dallas, Fort Worth area tomorrow for a week on business, then it is on to York!

I believe the baggage car in the "founders" set has my store name on it....if it survives.

The SGMA founders train has sat in a box since Monroeville. This was the last show done in the east. The JR Junction baggage car is there and the SGMA-CNY Observation car.  All the Syracuse cars are there also.

The 2 modules donated ended up in Texas and donated again along with 2 more when Charlie returned from Texas after the move did not work out.

There is a box containing 48' of unopened curtains and 20 new lexan panels of the new thinner standard. The mountains are still there along with a number of straight modules and back modules. The corners need to be reassembled but still there.

We could come back to Syracuse in the future when man power permits.

Jim,

To the best of my knowledge and as still posted on the SGMA website, the standard for the thickness of the LEXAN fascia has not changed, i.e., it is still 1/4" and for safety reasons it needs to stay at 1/4".
