This should be a very  simple, mechanical operation, but, it does not work. I bought this used many years ago and recently put it on the tracks for  the first time. It jerked nearly off the track.   I pulled it apart and this is  what I discovered. I looked at the K-line service manual and the diagram showing the truck and the actuator lever is unclear.  Here's what I have. Any suggestions would be welcome.  i don't know if the actuator lever should be straight, bent and whether it should be on top of the cam or below it. It was below when I first put it on the track but it seemed to drag on the middle track.  I repositioned it on top of the cam but then the Actuator would bind the ratchet wheel.

It's sitting right as far as orientation goes, bend the rocker arm so it's not so tight on the cam. The arm driven by the cam pulls the rachet wheel. That should be able to be moved by thumb or finger. Here's how loose mine has always been. Notice the stop hitting the floor. Crap. I don't have have an attachment tool. A photo MIGHT follow. It's ⅛- ¼" gap at the cam with arms stop sitting on the floor.
