I know we all know that Lionel MTH and so on are usually late in their shipping schedule but how about taking 15 seconds and updating the schedule and if they have no clue as to when it will be shipped then simply put TBA

Example

11-1030-1 General #6

11-1029-1 Empire State

11-1031-1 Texas

All of the above say August 2013 shipping date...how long could it take to at least update the site as this makes lionel, lionel Corporation, and mth look as if the site (product locator) is being run by amateurs.

This is precisely what happens when something is made "customer-facing", and then is not properly maintained.  When something is customer-facing, it can't be somebody's 19th job responsibility that they get around to doing when they can.  It's either a priority or shouldn't be visible at all.

Things are only compounded by the fact that it appears that personnel stateside really have NO clue when specific items will be manufactured overseas.  If they do, it certainly hasn't been communicated well to consumers or dealers.

Allan's suggestion about going to calendar quarters rather than months is a step in the right direction.  But whichever approach is taken, the dealer network and the consumers need to FEEL they're getting accurate and authoritative information from someone.  And that clearly hasn't been happening.

You guys really need to brush up on the theory of general relativity.  You really think time only flows in one direction?  Ha!  We're still counting down to August 2013.  In fact, it's coming up.   Any day now.  Through the fifth dimension by way of the twelfth planet.

Alternate Universe.

aka Ivory Tower.

I'm just concerned about what effects time dimensional travel will have on my Empire State set when it does arrive; the molecules will all be scrambled?

Not so much scrambled, but more like "negative energy" molecules.   You're train will still exists but when it comes in contact with your positive energy layout, it will likely result in a catastrophic explosion resulting in a singularity that will ingest most of the known galaxy...

... or at least that's how I read it... I could be off....

Yoda is right, patience is important, but it's also nice to know what is going on. I have been waiting patiently for my items which are due in December (even though the original shipping date was over the Summer). If they would have posted it as December in the first place, I wouldn't have been upset at all, but since they moved it about a month after the date passed, I was a little upset.

This is why I only preorder something if it's really something special (first preorder in 10 years)

I used to check the Lionel shipping schedule constantly. As in daily (how crazy is that?).  Finally decided to stop obsessing and just let it ride. The stuff gets here when it gets here. Much easier on the on the Stress-O-Meter.

On a humorous note, recently was notified by a dealer that a tinplate item came that I - honestly - had totally forgotten about. It's been that long.
