I received a call this morning for a building of an oil gantry. I am a buildings guy, but also have diverse experience with the EMA Plastruct catalog. When I search for oil gantry, I'm getting mostly overhead gantry structures for handling containers. Please give me an idea what a railroad oil gantry should look like.

Douglas - I never heard of them either so did an internet search. below is what I came up with - but best ask the customer for more detail especially if he is talking tank cars or trucks - for custom work I always ask the customer for photos if they have them.

Joe- Great advise. I think he saw our NYC waste transfer facility model photograph and may have that in mind. It was not what I was expecting an oil gantry to look like to I figured I would ask the Forum since some things have different names in different parts. I do like the yellow gantry that spans four tracks....

Pete, I love the scene! Was the platform a kit or did you design and build it yourself.
Great shot, as are many on your new layout.

Thank you for your kind words.
The structures in the photo are from a highly modified "Stoney Creek Designs" kit. I added the tall tank to the complex.
Doug,
To me it sounds like your customer is looking for an oil derrick. This would be the structure they construct at a well when drilling.

I’ll try for a better view tomorrow.
Really a nice use of space and a great scene.
