I have an 8 year old grandson who is working on the idea of integrating some Harry Potter Lego or other scenes into the layout. Who has done this and did you use Legos or other methods? Would love to see some examples or ideas for us to consider- pictures and suggestions welcome.

This is from my most recent Christmas Village. I too, have been looking for HP things for my village, but almost everything is either too small or too large. If you want to build HP in O Scale you are probably going to have to scratch-build most of it. Good luck.

when I had my layout going, i used a polly pocket for a castle. https://youtu.be/KSVGY3FQpPA?t=2m38s you're HP scene looks terrific!
Thanks for the responses and we may have to scratch build since lego is pretty small. two questions: 1) Big crabcake, did you scratch build that castle (love the car in the tree too).
2) china train, I was not aware of those polly pocket castles. I need to check the footprint but a good idea as a cost effective start.
I have a short attention span so I knew it wouldn't last. crabcake's castle looks great!

No, the castle was made by Hawthorne Village. Unfortunately it is too small to be anything other than a distant castle on the layout. Although, the forced perspective is kinda nice. The car is a Ford Anglia like in the movie Corgi sells it with the Harry and Ron figures. I couldn't find a Whomping Willow so I used a Department 56 Craggy Oak for the tree. You'll want to consider some variation of the photo below as well. Good luck with your layout.
