The M10005 is my only streamliner, and Michael has already given us a good shot of that. Beautiful Green Diamond too, Michael!
The transition era on an earlier version of my layout.

Very nice
Not the best photo, but my M10005 hanging out on the shelf with my AF Green Diamond
Awesome
Here's an M10005 in green and cream that started life out as a windup but is now temporarily an electric:
Here's my other M10005 that has the small (single axle) motor on my modules at our club's layout over Thanksgiving weekend:
I hope to see a lot more on this thread!

I think I may have posted this video here before, but since you asked for Marx Streamliners... this is the windup Zephyr that Marx should have made. Except for the nose and raised roof section of the locomotive, everything else is made by Marx:

Another stand in for a prototype of your terrific Marx scratch build. My moniker's namesake.

That would make an amazing Marx streamliner project! I don't think my rattle-can paint skills could do justice to that gorgeous paint scheme, though. Still, if I happen to run across some more rusty Marx articulated cars... you might see a tinplate Electroliner...
Nice, nice job James. It looks as if Louis Marx himself had it made. I love it.

great video, great project!
Here are my M10005's.
The green & cream is electric, the yellow & brown is a mechanical.
Very nice

I have had a similar project on the back burner for some time and yours was an incentive to get serious about it. I noticed that the Marx Streamliner cars ( non articulated ) have their trucks placed close to the car ends much like another Streamliner and I have gotten enough cars to make a consist of the IT "Liners" ...I need to practice my sheet metal shaping and soldering skills. I am planning to use Marx diesel power blocks. Its an interesting challenge. An unique part of this design was the Mars light that pointed upward rather than straight forward as in the other headlights on the front car.
The Illinois Terminal train looks like a neat project. I look forward to seeing the finished train!
I'm not at home right now, so I can't upload any pictures - but since I haven't seen any Marx streamlined steam posted yet, here is a video with a couple different versions of Marx Mercury locomotives pulling passenger trains. A restored Merc with custom painted 6" tin cars is on the outside loop, with an original gray Mercury articulated streamliner on the O34 loop. Marx trains are at the beginning of the video, and other brands after that, but it is the only video I have of the articulated Mercury running:
James
Outside of a Marx CV, the semi-streamlined CP..my favorite streamlined steam in the collection is a prewar clockwork articulated AF Hiawatha Atlantic ( that's a mouth full ) The quality of this engine impressed me. Still does.
Bruce
I agree, the AF Hiawatha is a good looking streamliner, nice loco & tender! I have a locomotive, but no tender or cars to go with it. It lives up to its namesake - it is very fast.
OK, in keeping with the theme of the thread, here is a picture of my Marx streamliners (at least, everything I thought might qualify as a streamliner except for the Commodores). From left to right: M10005 Yellow & Brown, M10005 Silver & Red, Monon 81 (with homemade pilot), Zephyr (custom), Gray Merc Articulated, and Seaboard 4000.
All windup, of course...

WindupGuy,
Your work on the Zephyr is very impressive. I agree that Marx should have made something like it.
I hope that you won't be offended, but when I first saw it I was reminded of Gort the robot in the original version of The Day The Earth Stood Still.
I truely intend that as a compliment.
Greg
That is great, Greg - there is certainly more than just a passing resemblance between the Zephyr project and Gort! I don't know if Marx ever made a Gort robot, but if not, they should have. After all, they brought us the Great Garloo (who apparently was mad at Marx trains for some reason):
Marx post war M10005 running on the hollow core door layout I set up in our dining room this Christmas. There is a pre war M10000 on the table which I sadly did not video since I just got the headlight and bell ringer working on it.

Another view of the M10005 in action (slo-mo cell phone video so sorry about the poor quality). I think the Marx streamliners are still some of the neatest looking trains period, they just look great snaking around the track.

Love them
This is about as close to a Marx streamliner as I can get right now. LOL
Marx Commodore Vanderbilt with an 8 wheel wedge tender and a couple of scale passenger cars....
Really need to come up with a streamlined train for this CV to pull....
These trains (not to mention the Great Garloo ad) just have to bring a smile to your face. If not, well then "you just don't like vanilla ice cream", as I believe Frank Sinatra once said.

Awesome
Dunno what "vanilla ice cream" has to do with trains, but I do not like it, think it is
a boring flavor, and seek out many other flavors at Baskin & Robbins, Lappert's,
Kilwin's, and any and varied other good ice cream sources. Sorta like a train of
white reefers vs. a train of many of the Atlas billboard reefers.

This Lionel 1700 sat under my layout for a few years waiting for a new motor. I came across a Marx CV motor that I was able to fit in, works great now. I still have to get a headlight in.
Enjoy the first run video.
