Does anyone have a photo of their new RF-16? I will not get mine until Tuesday and wonder what they actually look like. Thanks, Fred

Fred,
Which ones are you getting? Here is a video of the D&H Sharks I just received.
Joe
Thanks for posting the film Joe. They look and sound wonderful. And that horn sound is incredible. (Although it does remind me of the sound of a constipated cow stuck down a mine shaft!)
I wish you many years of joy and happiness with them.
I am hoping to see the Southern Pacific Shark Noses. If anyone has a set I would really appreciate you posting some photos of them!
Joe, Nice video, very cool outdoor layout, first I have seen in O gauge. The sound on the engines seems very good, particularly at an idle, they look great too! Thanks for posting, my NYC aa set should arrive here Tuesday. Fred
Nicole,
You're welcome. The D&H was a local railroad. I live along their former Pennsylvania Division. I've been waiting for Lionel to make these for some time now and I'm glad they finally did.
Fred,
Thank you. This was just a temporary set up I made to make this video. I don't have a permanent layout. I set a "few" trains up for the holidays but couldn't wait that long to make a video of these. These do sound great, especially at idle.
I too would like to see some pics of the Southern Pacific as well Baltimore and Ohio versions.
Joe
I also received a pair of the D&H sharknoses...delivered to the house yesterday. I almost went with the NYC as well but since I have a plethora of that roadname already I opted for the D&H. D&H was local to me when I was a kid and I always liked the blue and silver/gray color scheme...very handsome. Attached are a few close-up shots to highlight some of the detail. They run and sound great...very satisified. -Len

Very nice. These Legacy versions sit nice and low on their trucks, much more than the Century Club 2 Pennsy versions did. Big improvement.
Mine are due in this week but what is with that horn? Is that the way they sounded? Sounds like a sick moose! Haha
Those PRR Sharks look great!!! Thanks for sharing a pic.
Sean, which ones are you getting?
As far as the horn, first a constipated cow and now a sick moose..... Just kidding. The different tones of the horn was just me playing with the quilling feature that Legacy has.
I was also curious about the horn, so I watched a few videos on YouTube and then watched the DVDs I have on the D&H. The horn Lionel used is close to the horn used on the D&H Sharks, but isn't exact. At least to my ears anyway.
Joe
I'm curious about how close-coupled the engines are. The video shows a big gap, but the photos show them close together. I assume the big gap in the video is the way it is, unfortunately, but wonder about the photos.
There is 3/4" gap between both locomotives when coupled together. It would be nicer if they did couple closer. I'm not defending Lionel in anyway, but I can understand them doing this so these would operate on O-36 curves. It would be nice if Lionel included shorter couplers for those of us that have bigger curves. I doubt it would cost Lionel very much to do so.
With that being said, the gap between the locomotives is my only complaint about these. And an optional scale front pilot would also be nice. Besides the couplers, in my opinion these are nice locomotives and I am enjoying mine very much.
Joe
That's good to hear. Since the electrocouplers are on the fronts only, I guess it should be possible to shorten the rear couplers, or replace them with shorter K-Line or other couplers, to get a snugger fit.
breezinup: When I took the photo I placed to two units on the track without coupling them together. Placing them closer together than when coupled was unintentional...sorry to create the confusion. -Len
Anyone have any photos of the New York Central units to post thanks
I wanted the D&H engines, but from the above engines photos above, it looks like both are numbered 1205. Are they 1205 and 1216 like the two prototype D&H sharks.
They look great.
SAM
They do look very good and have geat engine sounds however the horn in the one in the video sounds like Godzilla with gas problems.
SAM: Yes, the dummy unit is #1216. The close-ups above were focused on the powered unit only. Hope this helps... -Len
Hi all I received my NYC's today they are beautiful here's some
photo's. I have one question the non powered A unit has no figures
is that the way it's suppose to be. If this was mentioned already I'm
sorry. But I have to say the sound is awesome the looks are beautiful
and they run so smooth. Great job Lionel.
Thanks, Alex

They look very similar to the CC-2 Sharks, which run on 0-31, do these???
Now that a lot of people seem to be running these engines, I'll ask again, do they run on 0-31 as the Century Club Pennsy's did ????
