6824 Automobile Flat Car? The profile looks like the black one I got in 1958 with the New Haven F3 freight set….

Arnold, good eye, the generator is, indeed,  a postwar part!  Still looking for someone to ID the reel car!

Peter, you got it!  The fact that the K-line reels fit the Lionel car is a coincidence, I had the reels first, looking for a home.  Some leather shoelaces to tie down the load completed the car!

I was at the NCTM today for a Mopar car show so went back into the roundhouse  for more images of the Southern Crane.  Dang thing is turned round now and tucked close to the last bay wall.

Don/t know why they have not fixed this piece up???!  If I recall correct they have had it running at times!

Well the scenery is not too good, but here is my Marx, Illinois Central Gulf, work train.  This is Marx set # 27152 from 1975.

Great looking set, Don!  Looks like everything is intact, which isn't as common as we might wish.

That set is on my sort list of Marx acquisitions. 

Thanks Palallin- it was a good find and mostly complete when I found it.  The yellow rails for the flat car came from the correct car but it was from a single sale later.  Of course, some -------has done a terrible thing on the box with their packing tape.  Someday I may figure out how to get that off without taking the box picture with it.

Have you tried a fair dryer?  Some tape gums loosen with mild heat.

Palallin :  Unfortunately - I did try a hair dryer once but it didn't seem to have much effect.  Thanks for the suggestion though, may try again.  I keep hoping the glue might "age out" and get easier to remove.

Great Thread and good looking work trains. Here's a Marx Monon work train I put together.

Trip around the layout. "B" unit added for some additional make believe power.

Finally got a proper engine for my wreck train. Still need to weather the crane and baggage car. I’ll have to take some more photos when I get home.

Thanks it’s amazing what a little dry brushing can do.
