Small wire clips used in Lionel engines

I personally think they're crap, but you can simply replace the foam tape if you want to use the ones that have lost their sticky.

I agree these are not the best.  Do you have other suggestions on what to use?

I purchase some similar, but they were thicker metal and just a bit larger.

I typically use hot glue and for more permanent placement, CA adhesive.

If clips for 1/8" diameter wire are not too large, try Waytek Industries and search for Essendra wire clips. You may have to buy a hundred at a time, though.

Hot glue and small tie wraps. I typically don't bother with those clips when I come across them.

I would use E 6000 glue verses hot glue gun glue to hold the wire or brackets.  It is much tougher, stronger and should be able to handle smoke fluid.

One of my reasons for using hot glue is I can remove the wire.  As I said, if I feel the wire should be permanent, I stick it in with Loctite 416 CA Adhesive.

I know the focus is on the clips but more importantly IMO, what about that insane corrosion? What smoke fluid or conditions are causing that????

This on the motor is just insane to me- the entire motor housing???

Truthfully, that's a lot more than smoke fluid, at least IMO.

Was wondering about that myself, …..looks like the locomotive was pulled up from the murky depths, …..perhaps owned by the Swamp Thing? 😳
