I am trying to test everything on my MTH 4-8-4 PS2 but I only have a short piece of track. Got to see it move about 3 feet, check all the lights and all the sounds. I can not get the smoke unit to work. Been so long since I used it, I can't remember, should it produce smoke even at a standstill? There is plenty of fluid, smoke is ON and set at Max. Any ideas? Yes, it should produce smoke anytime, including at standstill. Also, as soon as you hear a chuff, you should see a puff of smoke.
Turn the volume all the way off and see if you hear the fan pulsing as you slowly move.
Thanks Gunrunnerjohn, that was the perfect last test. I did not hearing any fan pulsing. So, I plan to sell the set without working smoke. Other than that it is pretty good shape and all the other functions work fine. Any idea of price for a Rail King Imperial set of PS2 4-8-4 in SP Daylight and 4 matching passenger cars?? There are 23 hours run time on the clock. Thanks again, Chuck
I don't really have an idea on price, I'd check auctions like eBay for recent sales.
