There has been lots of discussion about smoke units, and recently it became necessary to replace one in a N&W Y6b. Here's why. I put way too much smoke fluid into the engine and it got into the electric motor that runs the fan. As you can see in my sketch, the fan motor is the low point in the smoke unit.

After consulting GGG about how to get the fan assembly apart, I put my Y6b on the operating table and successfully changed the motor. Once again smoke fills the basement as the Y6b pulls a coal drag to Long Island. So having the smoke unit apart, I decided to sketch it for my own information, and to embolden some of you all who just might need a little encouragement to do it yourself.

And oh buy the way, does anyone have a part number and data for the resistors so I can include them in the sketch?

You can download the sketch by opening the icon below and doing a "Save Image As" to your desktop.
