I have a smoking caboose- Lionel-19807-blt.in 88. The smoke unit has never worked well. I decided to take apart and ck. it. I popped the top on smoke unit, and there is no wick material in it. Should there be wick in it? Voltage to unit is o.k. Tom

Not sure if this helps. Is this similar to yours?
That is definitely the unit I have and your post answers my concern. I my have been putting to much fluid in it. In fact I know I have. Thank you very much!!! Tom
Hi Tom,
Don did answer your questions, but just in case here's the parts diagram and the parts list. Only 5 drops at most in this unit.

And don't expect great quantities of smoke! Typically, the only time you'll actually see the smoke is when the caboose is sitting still.
Alex&John, Thanks for the info. This forum is simply amazing. Couldn't get along without it. Tom
