Here is a thread with some options I was looking at.

Are you looking to drive the dummy unit from the board in a PS2/3 engine?
GRJ installed smoke in my GP38 (he installed a tether and repaired the dummy smoke unit that I had fried with 22VAC).

Thanks for posting joe..
I'd like to do this as well.Wondering if my powered GP-35 could parallel a second smoke unit in a following unpowered engine with out harm.
If its a PS3, and you add a PS2 or PS3 smoke unit to the dummy, it works just fine.
You can run two smoke units off the PS/2 (3V) or PS/3 boards. For Lehigh74, I used a Minitronics 4-pin tether to link the smoke unit in the dummy to the powered locomotive. There was a little rebuilding of the smoke unit involved, it didn't take kindly to direct AC on it. .
