Smoke unit is not working - F3 UP #900 - 6-24552 - TMMC RS5.0

I use the MTH motor in those, I find them to be more reliable than the Lionel motors.

If so, is it only the motor that is defective? Is there any way I can test it?

Unplug the motor from any of the electronics.  Use a 1.5V battery and see if it runs.

I'm curious about the resistor only heating up with the motor is unplugged, that doesn't sound right.

I tested the dc motor, everything is okay!

Before when I plugged the smoke into the main connector I got 1.2v dc, but I don't know why now I don't and can only measure 0.16v dc.

I really think I will need to send it in for repair and the two A units have a problem with smoke.

I don't know what else I can do. I would need the wiring diagram to understand.

My problem will be to send it in for repair since I live in Brazil!

Sounds like it may be a board issue and not the motor.  It's pretty difficult to measure the voltage with normal meters on the motor, it's a PWM drive.

Not that you shouldn't send it to GRJ but, since the motor's now running, why don't you assemble everything back together and see if it works.

If not, maybe he can do a service call !

I did it ! But is not working !

Leandro - Mike Reagan did this when he was with Lionel. I perform this on all the diesel TMCC smoke units I have and numerous friends as well. No complaints so far! Good Luck!!

Jeff, those are standard mods I do to stock Lionel smoke units.  I also change the resistor to 20 ohms from 27 ohms.
