Has anyone read anywhere how the eastern railroads came through the big snow storm ?? Especially NS and CSX. Hopefully better than the Pa. Turnpike !!

I have not heard anything about NS or CSX, but NJ Transit shut down all rail and bus operations on Saturday. Amtrak was on a very limited schedule. PATH service between Jersey City and NYC was operating throughout the storm. All bridges and tunnels between NJ and NYC were closed around noon on Saturday and reopened at 7am on Sunday.
Good evening, my wife and I are in the middle of a home remodel so today I had some painting and staining to do before the contractor returns tomorrow.
I tuned in to the Station Inns, Cresson PA Radio Feed and listen to the NS scanner while I worked.
Very busy day on the radio and several trains being put on sidings and tied up east of Altoona ( Antis Area)
Several conversations about switch issues and getting crews to the switch's. The one worker must have been walking thru the deep snow due to the fact when he answered the radio he said he had to catch his breath first.
Here in Indiana PA we may have gotten 6" of snow, just a couple miles south and east the snow total was a few to several inches higher.
NJ transit resumed operations at mid-day today. since I was too busy cleaning 24" of snow here in central NJ, I am curious how Amtrak and/or NJT got the tracks of the NEC cleared.
does Amtrak run their MOW geeps light with plows? across the 4 track mainline?
This weatherbeaten motor is AEM7 921, a veteran of some 35 years of Amtrak service. Today she is one-half, the other half being P42DC 78, of a "patrol train" tasked with making repeated trips between Washington and Baltimore keeping the routes clear for passenger trains.
This will likely be the last winter the 921 will see. The fleet is dwindling as the successor ACS64's come on the roster. She and her sisters have earned their keep since replacing the GG1 fleet and relegating the E60s to a relatively short life. Like their diesel powered stable

With the right caption, that photo would make one of those funny posters you see on office walls. He seems to be looking at that pile of snow building up behind the switcher and saying, "Somethin' ain't right here. I thought we had the snow plow hooked up."
Must be government employees. O well spring will be here in a few months. As long as they clear it for York.
Great video thanks for sharing

With 100+ MPH operating speeds and decent train frequency, it is doubtful that any plowing is needed, the snow being blown away right down to the ties with each train's passing.
What... Amtrak's running "Snowpiercer?"

We had 30.2" here in Exton, Pa. Time to go out and un bury my vehicle. At least 4' of snow on each side of my vehicle.
If I could find some kids I would gladly pay them to do it, but none being around it looks like I will have to do it. At my age (70) I have to be careful.
Mr. Anderson,
What is that odd looking contraption coupled to the snow plow in your photo, above?
