The thing I find most attractive about the Allentown meet is how it reminds me of the way meets used to be when I started attending them back in the 70s. What I mean by that is how meets used to be made up primarily of private individuals who took tables looking to thin out some excess items, trade duplicates or just looking to move models to get money to buy other equipment they wanted more. I myself took tables at those shows. You literally didn't know what you find any given day. Shows like Greenberg have become very predictable in the sense that they're the same dealers offering the same merchandise from show to show. I find Allentown a refreshing change in the sense that it reminds me of an "old school" meet . I was very happy to find some old Lima HO equipment of South African Railway prototypes which I wasn't expecting to come across. It was being sold by an older gentleman who's looking to thin out his collection at this point. Of course, York still fits this mold as well. That said, I enjoy looking at all the new stuff in the Orange Hall as well. There's plenty of stuff for everybody. That's the way it should be.

"dennis,

my oldest son was looking at two HO freight cars, price was $44.99. He had $20, I took $20 out of my wallet and my son offered $40. Vendor said no can't do it, now $44.99 for two HO freight cars made in china about 5-6 years ago seems overpriced to me. So he lost a sale over $4.99, we both shook our heads and walked away. I don't know about any dealers on here, but I would rather take $40 cash and lose $4.99 then have to pack it back up and take it home."

I had a guy and his son come by my table. The boy picked up a engine and asked how much?. I asked him who wanted it, him or his dad. IT Was $5 for him $10 if dad wanted it. He was very happy. When he walked away.
