I will be looking for the following

  1. Lionel scale Husky Stacks
  2. Bowser or Weaver Roadrailers
  3. some add on cars (either head end or a coach or two to make the following trains a bit longer
    1. Weaver N&W streamlined 5 car set
    2. GGD LIRR coaches (have 5)
  4. and finally a Vision Hudson (Black). Looking for one that is reasonably priced, run but in exc condition.

-Over 18v bulbs or led bulbs (before I melt something on my switch controllers)

-Megasteam

-A BCR

-Parts

-An Ives 1708 (though that is always on my list)

-And probably other things which are escaping me at this moment, or will catch me while I am there....

Of course, I only have Saturday to find all this, so it will be a bit of a task to get all this and try to get in all the halls.

This is the first York show for my 11 year old and I, so we don't have a set list of items we need.  Hoping to take it all in and enjoy and not get carried away.

A few items I could use would be:

> Fastrack (straights, 060 curves, and accessory track)

>2 truck Shay

>diecast cars and trucks

>Santa Fe Diesels

>steam/smoke fluid

>1:87 people to populate my passenger cars, maybe some O scale folks for the layout too

Items I hope I don't see because I will probably overpay and buy...

>Pennsy Torpedo train

>John Wilkes Lehigh Valley loco

>2 truck shay (LOL)

>anything Legacy

And hoping to see and meet some of the OGR sponsors (any of you going to be there?)

and members.

There are a number of dealers selling diecast cars and trucks, mainly in the Orange Hall, including a DiecastDirect booth selling American Excellence cars among other brands.

Nothing really big, unless I can snag either a 1776 set or a Lionel Southern Crescent 685 and a set of passenger cars or a Lionel 8801 Blue Comet and passenger cars for a good price. Other than that just a lot of small stuff, still on the hunt for a 1950ish ambulance, a garbage truck, a couple of Scenic Express bigfoots/bigfeet?, some Mega Steam and any Skyline buildings that might be floating around. I am thinking about tracking down at least 9 Lionel cattle cars and building a drovers caboose to make a livestock unit train. Parts for projects currently stalled and anything unusual that strikes my fancy, keeping my eyes open for lead figures.

That is what always seems to happen when I don't have my list with me, and why I do have my list with me at York.  Now that cell phones are no longer forbidden, I can put the list on my phone and save some paper.

Even before the rule was lifted I always used my phone to keep a list on and look items up online. You were only banned from talking on the phone, not from using other features.

I ALWAYS take my list, because I will definitely duplicate something without it.

What am I looking for this time around?

Hmmmm.

1) If my order doesn't come through, Weaver telephone/utility poles.

2) A Z-Stuff DZ-1020 Crossing Signal pair

3) Any interesting detail parts or figures that I don't already have and catch my eye.

4) Any interesting 1:50 tractor trailors from the 1950s that I don't already have

5) Micro-Mark Yellow O-scale Brick Paper (it's been discontinued, so I will need a miracle here).

6) A decent hot dog sounds good!

I used my phone for this purpose for a while, but members in the member halls would occasionally chastise me for using my cell phone in the hall even though I wasn't using it to make calls.

The last time I used it for this purpose, I was looking up an sku item number of an item I intended to buy if it wasn't a duplicate when the table holder told me to put away the phone or take it outside.  I shut the phone off, put it in my pocket and then told him I was just using it to verify the item on his table was one that I needed, and that I would now have to pass on it.  He then said that maybe an exception could be made in this instance, and I replied that I didn't want to be chastised any more and I walked away.  It was nothing rare, so I didn't feel bad about walking away.

Couldn't help myself. Let's see we have 2 truck shays with Legacy, Santa Fe diesels, Pennsy Torpedo steamer, oh and the John Wilkes pacific.  Come see me in the orange hall.  Last count 60 steam engines and 50 or so diesels to go along with plenty of other goodies. Chuck we will miss you this year but hope you are back in April!

Wait. What? No visits to the humble li'l Layout Refinements' booth right next to the big roll-up door in the eastside of the Orange Hall? I've heard nice talk about him and that he's having a BigSale this show, a first for him.

And you don't even have to bring cash-money; just a smile and a handshake hello will make him happy. Plus, he takes creditcards and checks, these days, too!

Feelin' pretty good these days, I'm sure I'll be there, hangin' around for quite a bit, right up to the last minute, in fact, on Saturday fo' sure, too.

An impartial observer.

Ditto, pal!  Ditto!

I guess more than anything we're just looking forward to getting away from here (MI) and its obligations/shadows for a few days, seeing some colors in the high country, giving Millie and Daisy (Goldens) a change of scenery/chance to meet new friends, ....and being surprised by something that maybe I had never considered for the layout!

Tally-ho!

I need one of those as well.

Sounds like a bidding war is about to erupt

My list isn't much this year. I am looking for a boiler front for a Marx 333, anything New Marx, and a silver stamped 2046 steam engine (a tender would be nice, but not a deal breaker)

I think I am out of affordable 6464 boxcars to buy, but I still hope to see some that aren't in my collection. It's always fun looking at Plasticville and Marxville, but not really expecting to find anything I have to have.

I'll be keeping an eye out for a Christmas present for my Father in law, but he'll be with me, so that may be a wasted effort this year.
