The Mrs and I are all packed Saturday night as I write this.... We will be heading out in the morning. Traveling through Buffalo to visit Bridgeboss and then we will be headed to York! Finally. Looking so forward to seeing everyone.

In preparation, I put down yellow arrows on the floor around the house, to practice proper aisle etiquette; left a few coins in a bowl in the bathroom every time I went in there - of course, I was practicing holding it too so I didn't go so many times in a day. Our house keeper thought they were for her in lieu of her check; Went outside to take my phone calls; showed my id whenever I came back in; practiced taking photos stealthily - heh wait - I don't have to anymore; prepared cold french fries for lunch; practiced singing the national anthem with the accompaniment playing on the car radio out in the garage where you couldn't hear it; tried working out the Thursday is now not Friday but Tuesday thing with Mrs Muffin; got a long-nose clamp to practice doing an MTH DCS release upgrade on the remote at the users' meeting in case I get called into action; sat on a pile of wood chips and splinters while wedged into a kiddie seat to get my butt ready for the grandstand; practiced begging Atlas for a new diesel announcement; wore dark glasses in the closet while Mrs Muffin hit me with a laser pen light to get ready for the tent that's a booth that's a tent with all of those lit signs; dug out the basket we use for all of the scenery stuff we get at scenic express; reintroduced my body to scrapple - the heaves now subside pretty quickly; made a list of the donuts I have to try at the maple bakery; called my son the English major to get the low down on Charlie's announcement of a "free gift" in their booth that requires a $25 purchase - by definition isn't a gift free? Oh, this one is a $25 free gift? He couldn't help me - I still don't get it; Practiced sitting in the car from 11:00am to 12:00pm without looking at the time. Liked continuously; mapped out the fastest way to get to Vince's for the great deals when the clock strikes noon; plotting to get a picture of Mrs Muffin with Mr Batista. He's her hero. He has a video, did you know?; researched the names of native Italian bakery items so I don't think the NJHR are swearing at me when they call me a Sfogliatelle; practice thanking Andy for the new catalog at the DCS users meeting Wednesday night for my birthday. As Mrs Muffin says "nothing says birthday like talking DCS internals!"

What are you doing to prepare?????

Will be leaving Mountain Home Arkansas ( the location of the Advertising and Marketing Division of OGR ) at 7 A.M. central time Monday morning arriving in Richmond Indiana late that afternoon for the overnight stay.  Departing Richmond around 7 A.M. eastern time Tuesday morning arriving at the Wyndam in York around 5 P.M. or so.

As Marty said above, I will be enjoying supper and conversation with the "gang" that evening...

Spring York. We (The Fort Pitt High Railers) arrived late Tuesday. Hall Captains and security allowed us to unload late Tuesday.  We would spend most of the day Wednesday on set-up for opening Thursday.  (5hr.) drive on the PA Turnpike from Pittsburgh to York.

Best to check with those in charge, concerning access and security at the halls.  Mike CT

Fly from Dallas to DC Wed morning at 7 am.  Then drive up to Gettysburg, have lunch, and make right turn on York Road and over to York by about 4 pm.  Drop bags at Sheraton 4 Points and over to Holidome for MTH meet.  Thurs am is B &E Junction, early lunch at Coombs and then the Fairgrounds.  First stop Vinces Trains!

There's got to be a name for a group supper like that but I can't come up with it. Where's Farmer Bill when I need him?

Safe travels everyone. I expect we will roll in Tuesday and find a spot for our coach. Since we are bringing a trailer, we will need to rent a car too for local transportation. Mrs Muffin is cute enough to hitchhike but folks won't pick up a guy like me, well not without my Santa beard anyway.

I had not planned on attending a York meet, too far and too expensive for me. However, your preparation list above has just about changed my mind. I don't know what I would enjoy more, the York meet or just getting ready to go? I am saving this list just in case. I may just do some practice and see how it goes.

The last few I've been to I have left Wednesday afternoon (2ish) and made it to the Pennsylvania line before calling it a night. Hit the road early Thursday, and get to the fairgrounds about 1130 or so.

One of these days I will try the Amtrak route; it's going to have to wait until a York falls on a week where we aren't so busy at work though...

Just talked the better half into leaving this evening (Monday) instead of Tuesday morning when I usually go.  I plan on making an excursion trip up to see Jim Elster at Scenic Express along the way.  I plan on letting him fleece me good for all the scenic materials I intend to buy.   I have to keep my budget low, though.  I've got to get ready for Mr. Muffin's delivery of my Monon F3s and Thoroughbred passenger set.

Going tonight will let me do my shopping with Jim Elster Tuesday morning, then on across the turnpike to dinner with Alan Arnold, Barry Broskowitz, and Marty Fitzhenery and Dotty.

Boy, I look forward to these trips twice a year if, for no other reason than just to reaffirm old friendships and drown in marvelous trains.  If I ever get to the point where I can't make these trips, I'll have to have some pretty serious drugs to go through the withdrawal!

We drive from Cincinnati, where I find it quite relaxing to just go along and watch Mother Nature once again go through her fall metamorphous.  I feel like seeing the country side, all the friends at York, and talking to train people is a marvelous elixir that keeps me young.

See you there, everybody!

Amen to that!

Have a safe trip Jim!

2 trucks packed and one more in the morning. I have a good 15 minute drive to the fairgrounds tomorrow.......whew pretty rough.  Actually getting there is the easy part. 7 full pages of inventory, almost 500 line items, and yes over 300 engines. Not to fear Jim , Peg, and I will have everything displayed by noon Thursday!  Looking forward to seeing all my friends..... Stop by and say hi!!
You have that right! Maybe they don't have extra large bath tubs! Hope it is not too hot so the stench is not too bad! Also, what's up with that stinky food the dealers always have in the member halls like the Red Hall? My God that stuff smells rank!

Was hoping to leave first thing Thursday morning---only have a 2hr and change drive

Now it looks like I will get out of here around mid-dayish Thursday---oh well---not complaining

I should still catch the end of Thursday---all day Friday and Saturday---Happy and Thankful I'm still going and enjoying it

Have fun guys
