Saw 6-7 of these a day go through the area while white-water rafting on the Youck last weekend. Each train was at least 90 cars, got tired of holding the cell phone up on the first video and cut it short lol!

Was reading in Trains that the RR's are reporting significant increases in demand for auto carriers.

Nother one.....

In one of the trade mags the report was basic car bodies being built today are tank cars.

Then there was a question as to the need for maybe more Auto Carriers.

I would think there would be a call in the near future for more Well cars with all the new corriders opening up for the double stacks also can open hoppers be converted to covered hoppers with less coal shipping and more frack sand shipping?

At the beginning of the year what was being shipped in bigger quanity than last year was Petroleum, Petroleum Products and cars and car parts but that has leveled off in the last few months that I haven't seen Cars, Car parts reported.

I will be in Ohiopyle, not this weekend, but the next. I love the way the horn, and the sounds of the engines echoes off the mountains there. No matter where you are it makes it seem like your right next to the tracks. What part of the Yough did you do? I did where it is class 3 to 5 rapids. I believe it is the lower. Did you see the railcar laying on the hillside by the river?

There's something really neat about counting the number of fright cars in a train no matter where you are. Or what's in the freight cars.

I remember doing that when I went to college at Drexel in Philly, which was almost directly across from the PRR (yes, before PennCentral, etc.) at 32nd Street and Market.

I have no recollection of which boring classes the boring teachers taught that prompted me to do that.

I do recall one teacher telling us the PRR was a goldmine because of all the valuable land it owned. Prior to crashing into bankruptcy of course.

Lest this sound like trashing Drexel, it is not meant that way. I think Drexel is an excellent school that was great for me, it's just that not every class is worthwhile.

I wouldn't mind having one of those 65 GTO's that was on those trains I watched back then.
