A tip from an old Model RR when using Goo, he mixed Goo and acetone 60/40 in a bottle and used this mixture on wood kits, scratch-building.  He would put the mixture on both parts to be joined, wait 60 seconds and press together.  He had another bottle of acetone for a wash and use that to brush the glued joint to remove any glue from the joint.  The acetone wash also acted as an agent to help bond the joint.  The trick was to use the right amount of acetone wash.  He scratch-built several HOn3 passenger cars with complete interior and you couldn’t see any glued joints.
