I am an O gauger who is having fun with a #283 Flyer steamer I recently acquired & had tuned up. I would like to know in which years was produced, and, if it came only in a set, what were the other cars (and their numbers) that came with it. Thanks!

The 283 was a fairly commom locomotive available in numerous sets.

Thanks, Rusty. This engine smokes like the devil... and instantly, too... with no "warm-up" needed. I haven't seen anything like that in O.
The 283 was cataloged from 1953 thru 1957 then the number changed due to the new computerized inventory system. It was available for separate sale and in sets. It came in sets K5422T, K5423T, 5510T, 5515T, 5620T and 23920 which was a 1957 set with old numbered stock used in a new numbered set box. Good runner, very popular loco.
