Most of us who have been in O Scale for a while have probably built a few of Intermountains really nice freight car kits. Like many I have a stash of them in my closet for the occasional kit build when I'm in that mood. Well today I came up one short for a tiny part for the ACF TYPE 27 RIVETED 8000 Gallon Union Tank car I'm working on. Specifically one of the two safety valves that mount on the single dome.

The instruction sheets always told us they replace missing or damaged part...but after so many years of being out of O scale I don't expect that to happen. But with a certain amount of wishful thinking I called their 800 number, and the fellow in the parts room says we still have a small O scale parts inventory, let me check and I'll call you back. He did a half hour later and we made sure he was holding the correct part I needed...once verified he says "I'll ship it out tomorrow" !

Now that's first class service, and I just had to post about it.

Yes it does.

A couple of years ago I wanted some O scale Red Caboose wine tank cars that were no longer made I rang Bill Mclung  (I think I misspelled his name) at Red caboose and he had some odd parts enough to make up four kits he sent them to me they arrived there were some parts missing I rang he put them in the mail the next day.

I know that was different circumstances but he did go to the trouble of putting together the kits for me in the first place. Roo. (In West Australia)

That's great to hear. One of the things Intermountain made that I guess is still in production is their O scale wheel sets. They're great and fit Weaver and Athearn plastic trucks perfectly. I've been buying them a few sets at a time and converting Weaver cars to 2-rail. I realized yesterday that I have a small stash of Intermountain reefers and box cars I had built over the years that I had built to 3-rail that would be great to switch over since they're so nicely detailed.

Matt where's the best place to pickup those intermountain trucks, there good trucks!        cTr....( Choose the Right )

I don't buy the trucks (although I did like them). I get the wheels off eBay. They're going for about $10/set now. I have a ton of Weaver cars with plastic trucks so switching them from hi-rail to 2-rail is easy in inexpensive.
