Greetings my forum friends....I have a mid 1990’s 4-6-4 Lionel Hudson Great Northern steam locomotive.....this has a circuit sound board in the tender.....it does not have the battery back up in it.....now I have a KW transformer with the whistle lever on it.....when moving  the lever the whistle does work in the tender.....that’s it.....this circuit board is to have numerous sounds......but that’s all that comes out of it.....would the Lionel sound activation button allow me to get more sounds from this board using my KW transformer......I’m an old school guy and was use to running my older trains with the whistle tenders of the 50’s and 60’s and saw this Hudson ....bought it and scratching my head on what direction to go......I’m not going to spend big bucks on the state of the art transformers I see for Hundreds of dollars.....I’m pretty much a cheap skate and always looking to enjoy my trains for spending as little as possible making them work......if this sound activation button will help out please tell me how to hook it up running it off my KW Transformer.....Thanking you all for your input......EZ Money

The Lionel 6-5906 sound button goes for $10-20 (eBay, etc.) and would add Bell functionality to your KW using this configuration:

For minimum out-of-pocket cost, could he use a DPDT toggle switch to reverse wiring from the KW to the track?

Flip the DPDT one way and the KW whistle lever activates whistle.  Flip the DPDT the other way and the KW lever activates bell.  Or does an instantaneous phase reversal in track voltage confound the engine?  I'm representing the cheap skate coalition...being that a DPDT toggle switch is just a few bucks and widely available (Home Depot, etc.).

I recently purchased a Lionel CW 80 watt transformer with whistle and bell for a good deal.....I’ll see how it works.....bought this before becoming a Forum member......if bell is all I get out of it I’ll most likely invest in the SAB and have it in hand.....I thank all of you members for your input.....I’m a new member and this is my first post.....with the train shows shut down for Lord knows how long I feel this is going to be a fantastic link to help me with my train issues.....Again, Thanks to all who gave me advice on this topic.....EZ Money.....Happily retried Tool and Die Maker.......
