I have a Lionel NYC Hudson (Item #6-28007). Ever since I bought the engine used a few years ago, the sounds have been cutting out when it is in motion. I am by no means an expert in lionel electronics, but if I had to guess, I'd say it has something to do with the wired teather and/or the speaker. Can someone please confirm or deny this? If it is the teather causing the interruption in the sounds, would it be possible to upgrade to a wireless teather?

Thanks

Start simple first, then move on to more complicated diagnosis.....first, be sure all the pickup rollers are good and clean...both loco and tender....no harm no foul after they’ve been cleaned to put a tiny drop of oil on the roller’s pin...second, make sure all the axle wipers ( copper strips) are in contact with the axles they wipe...a tiny drop of oil on those won’t hurt either....third, be sure all of your wheels are cleaned and lubricated...the tender wheels are grounds as well.....lastly, open the tender shell up and place a alkaline 9 volt inside on the hook ups....this will help with sound drop outs running.....try all that mess first, then report back if you’re still having issues....😉
