Try using a Lok-Sound Ed. They are capable of 3.5 amps power for control of the motor, lighting functions, and sound. They are a little expensive but worth it. And they sound awesome too. And they do have Pennsy whistles to choose from.

I'm installing one now in an Overland N&W J for which I can download sound files from Lok-Sounds website and install with a programmer. When I finish with it, I'll have it at Cherry Valley for you to check out at our next swap meet.

I have a few engines with Lok-Sound installed and am very pleased with them. I just have to catch up with some of the other club members as far as DCC so I don't have to listen to their ribbing.

yes, because we are THIS close to banning Tom's DC engines from the layout

I'd agree about the LokSound. Specifically you'd need the XL version, either 3.5 or 4.0, depending on who you can get it from.

I'll be putting an XL into my Sunset GG1, to control both motors and give me GG1 sound sets.

To answer your original question, for a Tsunami use heavy steam for the M1.

The medium is for something like an Atlantic, the light for a A or B series shunter.

Ed & List,

I'm not sure of the choices available, but the M1's for the most part were equipped with passenger whistles (I have never heard a recording of one with a banshee screamer, and they never ran in South Jersey for me to hear in person). If I remember they were kinda deep- throated and somewhat mellow in tone. Your best be would be to listen to a recording and try to pick something close. Good luck.
