Does anyone know of electronics that will fit a K-Line Plymouth switcher to provide sounds (bell, whistle, diesel sounds, etc.) or TMCC / DCS operation? I have no desire to locate boards in a trailing car connected to loco with a tether but want everything self contained within loco itself. Also removing smoke unit to make room for the electronics is not an option.

I know the challenge of adding sound also involves finding room for a speaker so if the only viable way was installing speaker and sound board tethered to a trailing car then what type car would be most atypical for the Strasburg Railroad tourist shortline? If it were a boxcar who makes the shortest one? Also what about using either a maintence car or a mauntenace caboose?

Thanks for your input and assistance.

This picture shows a DIY small TMCC motor driver board with R2LC attached.

More details can be found here: http://www.tuveson.com/ under the category TMCC for S- A DIY TMCC project.

It looks like it might fit in the cab of a Plymouth.

As far sounds go, I'm not sure what recorded sounds would sound right for it either. I dont think GP-9 sounds would sound correct for the little plymouth. I doubt the little engine made much sound anyway.
