Hi everyone,

This past Saturday I ventured down to Chattanooga, TN to take in the sights and sounds of Southern steam in the spring. On the weekends the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (TVRM) pull their Missionary Ridge locals with Southern Railway consolidation #630. It was a fantastic time and it is quite a neat little area and operation that they run. I will definitely be down again soon for the Summerville Steam Specials.

Here is a video:

And here are some pictures: (more to come later...)

Some more pictures for you all...

Southern #630 rolls across Chickamauga Creek heading east just outside of Grand Junction station. This area is easily accessible by a trail and along the trail they have a section of track indicating the location of the railroad in 1859. The tracks would have passed and crossed the creek right where I am standing in the picture and crossed the bridge piers shown in the bottom left corner of the frame. According to another sign in 1867, a massive flood caused the water level of the creek to rise up to 9 feet where this picture was taken. If you add that height to the 60-70 foot drop down the bank into the creek below the bridge, it must have been quite a disaster for the area. Can't stop the power of mother nature!

Southern #630 sits patiently in the East Chattanooga yard of the TVRM shops alongside a Tennessee Alabama and Georgia (TAG) diesel.

Even more pictures to come! (When I get time to edit them...)
