Thanks for posting that photo.
Glad to see both of those big steamers under cover. How many tracks are there that offer protection for equipment? I can just make out a PA diesel behind SP GS-4's tender. Will they be under cover?
Steve
Two long tracks inside the new building. Inside are the UP Pacific (#3203, being restored back to original OWR&N #197), SP&S 700, SP 4449, the NKP PA, and maybe the "Little Boy", #8645, steam heater car.
Many thanks for posting! Can't wait to visit.
Nice. Good to see they're protected from the elements (and souvenir hunters.)
Hot Water,
Thanks.
The photo shows to me the end of the building right where the photographer was standing. Thanks for letting me know that it extends further back (what are the building dimensions?). It's good to know that all of this priceless equipment will be protected and worked on out of the elements (both natural and human).
Steve
Steam Guy,
May I suggest that you go to www.orhf.org and you will learn much more about the whole organization and the new building.
Yeah Steve I would second HW's suggestion. A great website with tons of great information. It is sad that the Brooklyn RH is going to be demolished, but the engines will have a great new home. It is so important that these engines have a safe, secure and sound structure to call home.
What's the story on the Vanderbilt tender? Looks like a former GN about to be converted into a water only tender.
That is an ex GN Vanderbilt tender, now the aux tender for the SP&S 700. You can read about it's history here....http://www.sps700.org/rollingstock/auxtender.shtml
Hi Guys,
Thanks for that website.
Steve
