Thanks for all the kind comments.  My layout is a work in progress.  I can lay track and do wiring but scenery, not so much.  I don't have that artistic vision.  This is my second layout as the 1st was done in O-31 tubular track.  I tore that out, modified the benchwork for a few 0-72 runs and added Ross Track and Switches.  You won't regret using Ross.

Regarding the Cab Forward, someone earlier was hoping that Lionel would capture the sound of the air pumps.  I think they did and I agree that it is a unique sound.  I love it.  Great engine!

Who else has received theirs?

That is just TOO funny!  In my haste to get a video for my grandsons, I overlooked the black foam pad.  All the other padding was white.  Thanks for pointing that out.  I'm still laughing at myself for not noticing.

That really is a magnificent looking engine!  Thank you for posting!  Always one of my favorite paint schemes!  I remember having a Rivarossi Pacific in HO that was in Daylight scheme.  Even though it wasn't at all prototypical, it certainly looked nice pulling a consist of Athearn Daylight cars!

I'd love to see some pics or clips some time of one of these pulling a nice set of Daylight cars!

Very nice model.  I guess I could go along with the Daylight tender, but I don't care for the boiler and cab scheme.  I don't mind painting things in colors that were never applied to the real thing, so it's just an aesthetic opinion.

Not an opinion - I simply do not remember ever hearing folks talking on a loudspeaker while either parked or operating a steam locomotive.  Sounds more like a baseball park than a railroad with all that loud chatter.

Eddie, we will accommodate you this weekend. I have an 11 car consist of 21" K-Line Daylight Lightweight passenger cars just waiting on a siding to be paired with this beautiful engine.

Well what's taking so long Brian? Stop arguing with John about it and get those pix up quick!

Hey don't distract Brian!  My delay tactics have been working so far!  While I've got him hampered I'm already busy getting ready to entice Dillon to send his cab forward to me so I can fix the same factory paint job error on his!

In all seriousness to Brian & Dillon, I'm actually happy that they're enjoying their, *ahem* Daylight cab forwards.   I just have to see the pics and watch the videos with the color set to b&w on the monitor as a sort of antidote.

You're welcome, and I'm happy to know you knew it was ribbing the entire time, even if it came across like a sledgehammer.

If I were a neighbor I'd be honored to have you run trains at my layout anytime.

(Just leave the daylight cab forward home though).

Be safe and enjoy your New Years, Brian.

John, I also knew you were ribbing us as I have read all your earlier posts regarding the paint scheme.  I was wondering when you were going to jump in with a comment.  I really appreciate your offer to repaint my engine but I think I will pass.

Happy New Year!

I kind of agree with the cab chatter comments but we do have to remember it is a toy.  An expensive toy but a toy nonetheless.  Lionel was smart enough to design the engines in such a way that if you don't like the chatter don't touch those buttons.  Don't like the smoke, turn it off. Etc.  However, if you want to impress some kids or non-train hobbiest adults; you can run the full compliment of gimmicks and blow their minds.  Works every time!

I completely agree with you, Dillon. Excellent analogy.
