HI:

I took a week long diversion from my SP&S Caboose scratch building project (waiting for some parts and messing with a function only decoder).  The diversion was this "Non-Prototype" build of the old Revell Sinclair tank truck, now re-released by Atlantis.  This is 1:48 scale and great for 50's - 60's track-side items.

There is no prototype for this one.... and I do not know if SP had anything like it....but I had the decals (HO Scale), lots of detail parts and some spare time so I just let my imagination wander.

I won't get into the build specifics because as I mentioned I just made this one up as I went along.  Suffice to say there was a lot of scratch building and left over detail parts involved.

Hope you enjoy.

Regards

Bill

I like it.  The wheels are my favorite part. When I was a kid, there was a lot of MW equipment in Fairbank, including long strings of boxcars converted to dwellings and an oxide-painted Pullman for the single guys.  Wish I had photos.

Thanks Bob.....  I cheated on the front wheels....   I used a set of the rear inside wheels.  They have no detail on them as they are not visible.  I drilled 8 .032 holes around the inner surface and added some Tichy NBW castings.....  Then added a styrene sleeve so they would fit the front hubs.....topped that all off with a Tichcy "flat" NBW casting as the hub.......The rear sets are stock except for the same treatment on the hub with a flat Tichcy NBW......

See the photo of the front wheel ....  I added the flat NBW casting to the green part after sanding it flat.....then painted it.
