Special orders

This is pretty much how it goes. Nothing ever arrives on time. It'll be here when it gets here. You're not getting screwed by a dealer, they dont have it, it probably hasnt been shipped from the factory to MTH yet.  

The only issue I see is paying in full up front. I dont know why a dealer would demand that. But if waiting for the factory to make it and ship it, beyond what is widely known to be a pipe dream of a delivery date is that problematic, you're probably going to need a different hobby. None of the manufacturers are any different.

Exactly.  If it is less than a year late that's pretty good.  I think there are things from other companies that are 5 years or more late.  Does any remember the Atlas Dash 8s?  How many years late was that?  Actually I think right now Atlas is sucking up the MTH's factory time as they are getting things in regularly.

I agree with all of Boilermaker1’s comments above.  Unfortunately, this is just how it goes today.  I also don’t like the part about paying in full up front.

I hope so, but;

I asked every dealer I could find that was an MTH dealer about doing a run of 3/2 AC4400s with fixed pilots and was told no interest in doing so from all of them.

That's not very surprising.  The "special" runs are almost always just a new paint job, you're asking about new tooling, a totally different kettle of fish!

Gee and l complained because they were redoing tooling over and over for the same few prototypes.  Makes the custom runs new posting here highly relevant, and may explain their success, the Atlas reefer success, etc.  Makes for something new and different.

Yes item number.  These threads go in every direction. This started with a question of a delayed engine delivery.  I simply ask him what number it was.

Sorry; you mistook what I wrote as questioning you, and rereading, I can see that. I was emphasizing your question to the OP, not questioning you.

What new tooling

MTH has already made these previously.  I'm not even looking for new paint.  MTH has said no more fixed pilot models unless a dealer makes a special order of them.
