In the  March issue of Trains how railroads got back in the oil business, and why they aren't ever going away.  For the Western Pa. fans a beautiful bird's-eye view of a NS heritage NY Central unit hauling a string of oil cars through Wilmerding, Pa. Also shows construction of the Bellevue, Ohio sprawling yard which will be 5.5 miles long.

The article in summary is the NS Future Track Steering Committee noticed business was growing in the Northern Region and they needed additional yard classification capacity to handle it.  Natural gas being drilled from the Marcellus Shale deposits was one major driver of the increasing business, but traffic related to steelmaking and auto production was another factor.

Now looking to our side, model railroading manufacturing can start pushing some new models for each of these fields, so we can keep up with modern equipment on our turf. Also Rich can take some pictures and Allan can write an OGR article, again increasing subscriptions. Sounds like a win win for all.
