Great thought but Web site is tough to navigate

Can't agree more!

Pat - really loved visiting your store back in August on the final leg of an cross country (San Francisco to Potomac, MD) road trip but the website is tough to work with and have always enjoyed dealing with you over the phone. A vast majority of things are marked as "Sold Out" and there is no way to breakdown the list of items. For example, I was interested in looking at some of your Railking cabooses, among other things. After going about 5 pages on your website under Railking Rolling Stock, I gave up. I had no way to view only Railking cabooses. I had to sort through nearly 60 pages of rolling stock with a vast chunk of things marked as sold out - kind of insane! To go through that many pages takes a lot of time and I'm sure I'm not the only one to have given up.

I have found the site to be specific or broad base but you have to hone it down,  there are 25 pages of caboose,  BUT Santa fe

caboose, will narrow it down to 2 pages.    I chose road name, or brand even, or type.  Locomotives will looks like produce the complete store.  BUT NEW YORK, Locomotive will narrow down to 4 page.  I have had a couple of items spotted, and the name of the sale , says it all.  BUY the way, I do kinda lean towards  The WV/VA, neighboring states for purchases.  I have my tent set up next to the phone,  I want to be 1st in line.

What a nice offer!

I have ordered from Pat before, and will be calling today.

I don't think the website is that hard to navigate. The search box works well for me. There is also a browse feature by manufacturer then product type.  Maybe adding a 3rd filter for road name would be helpful. And as others have suggested, an optional filter to hide the sold out items.

Anyway, thanks Pat, and Merry Christmas

I ordered the O-line Reproductions Alaska passenger set from Patstrains.com a few weeks ago and was very pleased with the fast shipping and responsive communication.  The set arrived in great shape and Pat worked hard to find the most cost effective method of shipping to Hawaii.  I have one more item on my list and plan to call for availability today.  Recommended dealer, almost makes me wish I lived in West Virginia!

Pat, Merry Christmas again to you and your family.  Thank you so much for great deal today.

I have been wanting a switching engine with  a remote coupler on both ends for some time and would not have bought one without this sale.  I  spent a ton of time on your website tryint to make a decision before calling, and had back up selections in mind if the item I wanted had aalready been sold.  As I have said on the forum before, you are a first class individual and your service is second to none.

Thanks again, John Z

That's nice of you Pat. I figured you must have been a busy guy, as I couldn't get through either. Kinda reminded me of being a teenage and sitting by the phone repeatedly calling the radio station to win a contest... and back then, there was not only no command control for trains, but there was no speed dial for telephones.

You can still order till 8PM call me at 304-281-8145 and I will take care of you.

Merry Christmas

Pat

Pat does a fantastic job... and that's an understatement

I've found that you have to learn HOW to search his site to be effective.  The search engine isn't bad once you get the hang of it.   It would be nice to have an "in stock only" flag, but even then, if you know what you're looking for, you can find it.  I'm close enough to enjoy Pat's hospitality year round.  His shop is a little... "intimidating" but he seems to know exactly where everything is... most of the time   If you could see the sheer volume of stuff that shows up on any given day via UPS/FedEx/USPS, it would boggle your mind.  Somehow he manages to sort thought it all, record an inventory, and still provide a level of customer service that is pretty rare these days.

I truly believe that if it were not for guys like Pat (and his lovely wife...), this hobby would be in big trouble!

Thanks Pat, and Merry Christmas!!!

-Eric
