As you might know I run 1 Gauge, 0 Gauge (2- and 3-rail) and S Gauge trains, including tinplate trains, on my garden layout. Seeing all the beautiful and colorful Standard Gauge trains here in this forum I am now considering the possibilities of adding Standard Gauge track to my garden layout. Has this been done before and does anyone have thought about this? Further, since I am thinking about adding one rail (at a distance of 54 mm to one of the 1 Gauge rails) are there any standards on Standard Gauge like rail height and position of third rail? All remarks appreciated.

Regards

Fred

Fred,  Be carefull !!!  Those standard gauge trains are very adictives, after the first one you always need to add more and more.... Good luck.

I use tracks from USA tracks and old KMT and also some original ones when they are in perfect condition. In fact it is very easy to do as the three tracks have the same eight and they are very similar to tinplate gauge one tracks. It is even possible, as gauge one track are not easyly availables to use standard gauge tracks mounted on one gauge ties.

The flanges of standard gauge trains are larges and the allow some variations.

I hope to have the pleasure to see some standard gauge trains running in your garden in a near future.

All my best wishes,   Daniel
