A forum member had posted a video a while back and one of his other video's was a start-stop handcar loop he made. Here is the same idea, but I am running trolleys. Getting this loop prepped and ready for our May TTOS meet.

neat idea!
I have a similar setup on my O-Gauge layout using a current sensing device made by Burns MFG. Has worked flawlessly for 15 years.
In looking at the diagram if you add insulated outside rails to both sides on the outbound track the train can stop without a relay. No common the train will stop as the video. When the 2nd train hits your insulated rails the wheels will make common and transfer it via the jumper wire to the the double insulated outside rails making common and causing the stopped train to proceed.
Looking back at the the diagram you did what I proposed.
Steve,
Very nice and done without relays using just insulated rails. And those are nice Pride Line Trolleys.

Beautiful example of what can be done with 3 rails and little else...the true essence of tinplate operation. I hope to employ stuff like this on some future layout. I suppose the basic circuitry could be used at diamonds to avoid collisions in a hands free environment.

For a diamond one would need relays. Still technology that was around in the thirties.
Steve,
As usual great stuff!

Nice!

Nice Job, Steve. I'm partial to the 5200 Marx Ameritrain trolleys. You don't often see one let alone two and in different colors.
Somewhat of a rerun, but I added an extra insulated rail to my Start-Stop trolley line. This allows some slightly less than prototypical block signal light action. Just something to attract the eye of the viewer.

Nice.
I was thinking about doing something like that using Fastrack. I would need a drawing to figure out how to do it.
I like the green over red signal. You must be getting ready for St Patricks day.
