Need your directions. I am building a new layout with a room footprint of 24'x20'. Old layout was a 10'x8' flat plyboard. I want to run tracks in a U (top) view around the room. Old track desigh came from Atlas web site, but now I'm trying to find the exact track design (layout) I will be able to play with and adopt to. My goals are to have a engine maint yard, boxcar switching yard, passenger depot - town scene, and an industrial yard around the long sides of the U's. My question? Where on the web are the best sites to get different plans and start to find the best of the best one for me.

Thanks for your time and input.

When I started to design my layout, I too looked for ready-made trackplans. One site I found was www.thortrains.net/. They have a number of plans using various track types.

Eventually, I decided to pick up a copy of RR-Track, which also has a number of ready-made plans, but the software makes it pretty easy to design your own plan. Once you design your plan, you can just press a button, and the program will show you exactly the the number of pieces of track you will need to complete design. I found the designing step, with the help of RR-Track, to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the process.
