Another great Jack Delano photo from Shorpy. Now you know what kind of scene to build with your State of Maine potato cars.

Neat scene...
Good luck on finding those circa-1940 trucks.
Hmmm......the trucks seem to be loaded with wooden barrels. That must be how potatoes were transported in the earlier days. Speaking as a non-farmer.
Would have liked to seen this photo a few years ago while my father was still alive. Could have asked him about it, his family was living around Caribou around that time. Maybe I'll try one of my aunts and see if she recalls anything on this type of scene...
As one follows the picture to stage right, there appears to be a railroad depot. Canadian Pacific? Maine Central? Bangor & Aroostock?
Just tracked down the photo courtesy the Internet. The web site SepiaTown suggests that this would be on the CPR/NBR line. There's a 'now' link available - just green fields. The BAR would be on the other side of the river.
PJL: nice detective work ! Always disappointing to see the "years later" picture.........nothing there, where so much existed before.
Not sure what "NBR" is (?)
Do you want fries with that?
I couldn't resist.
