This morning my wife and i were having breakfast, and we heard this odd cracking sound behind our house. I went to go take a look and we saw a tree limb that fell and caught some electrical wires, which set the tree limb on fire. The electrical wire is hanging right over the tracks, the authorities are on the job and taking care of everything. Looks like trains will be running soon

Alex glad everything was under control in a short time. A number of years (about 1985) ago when we lived in our old house the tracks were two blocks behind the house; one Sunday after church as I was changing in our bedroom, I saw smoke coming from the tracks area. When I finished changing I went back to see what was going on. It was a boxcar smaldering. It was an education to see how the firemen from the town had to handle it. They couldn't go near to the car till they radioed Conrail to find out what was in the boxcar and how to handle it. The box car was filled with scrap paper bails. They where finally able to open the boxcar spill some of the paper out on the ground and smother all the paper inside and out with foam. A short time after that I was in the Conrail Blue Room when they where starting to switch over to computers from the old phone system, I asked how they would come up with the manifest and how to handle a situation. One of the guys shouted out what was the number of the car they had trouble with the day before; they punched the number into a computer and in a short time came back with a printout: what was in the car and how to handle different emergencies.

Glad you didn'the loose your house, layout or had any injuries.
