Picked up this monster at today's TCA meet.  It's 4" longer than a 400E and a bit taller. Tender is and inch and a half longer than the 400's also. The creator was a friend of the McCoy's so a number of his home brews had a lot of McCoy content including motors. This one will need a lot of tidying up. The bare aluminum boiler needs to be gray and I don't see any pictures of the 2860 with a green cab. The drivers are swollen and binding on each other so the motor is locked up. It looks like it will take my 57" curves, haven't set it on the 42" yet. Another project, but no way I was leaving the meet without it.

Have found that the creator of these customs was a man named Frank Read. He lived in White Center Washington (west Seattle). He was a retired draftsman from Boeing. He passed away sometime in about 2000. The family sold his basement full of normal production trains years ago, but kept his home made trains until a few months ago. His nephew guesses these were made in the late 70's. They did not find any molds or patterns for the unique castings he made.
