I received the attached tour guide on Sunday. It seems the Steam Into History excursions are about to start soon.
Here's the email I received.
Greetings:
Purchase tickets for Steam Into History excursions online. Go to www.SteamIntoHistory.com click on “buy tickets”. Choose the date and time you want to purchase tickets. Our first excursion is June 2 at noon. We have a wonderful living historian, Myra Reichart from “Places Through Time” on this train, she portrays a civilian during the Battle at Gettysburg. We also have a number of Civil War era musicians and living historians scheduled during the summer and fall.
The first excursions of the day, Tuesday through Friday will be one hour long. We thought this run would work well with families who have younger children. These excursions will start in New Freedom and go to Glen Rock and back. All other excursions in the summer will be 2 1/2 hours long. Fall excursions will be one hour long, from New Freedom to Glen Rock with a few exceptions.
Just yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with a number of re-enactors who will be part of the June 22 re-enactment of the skirmish at Hanover Junction. If you are not able to be on the noon train the day of the event, the re-enactors will be spending the day at Hanover Junction so you will have the opportunity to connect with them on the 9:00 a.m. train and the 4:00 p.m. train.
Follow us on facebook for the arrival of coaches next week and the subsequent arrival of the locomotive and tender. Win a pair of tickets if you guess the correct time the locomotive reaches New Freedom.
Thanks to all who have quietly worked in the background to get this project up and running. We know who you are – flaggers, writers, construction, and more. Your support has been overwhelming and we appreciate all that has been and is being done.
Attached you will find a summer guide for our train and also volunteer forms. I invite all who are interested in volunteering to fill one of these forms out and send them to me at dbeshore@steamintohistory.com We need volunteers from assisting Hillary in the retail shop, hosting on the train and help to polish the brass. The historian group, led by Mike Beshore, has been busy writing the narration for the excursions we will need folks to present it going forward. The model train group is up and running, so if you would like to be a part of that process I will forward the information on to Ed Horvath who is heading up that committee.
I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day. If you still need a last minute gift for Mom, how about a ticket to Steam Into History? All Aboard!!!
