Have installed a PS2 upgrade Kit in a K-Line Allegheny.  Took great time during the installation to verify that there were no shorts, pinched or miss-connected wires.  Continuity checked the locomotive harness for continuity, no shorts after installation, prior to power up.  Locomotive marker and firebox lights are track powered.  Did NOT install the inductor in the locomotive light circuit.

Have performed numerous PS2 upgrades prior to this.

During the test portion - the directional movement of the locomotive is fine, forward, neutral, reverse.  The headlight and back up light work.

When I proceed to test the bell or horn - nothing!  Fired the rear coupler - 1B-3W - works fine.  Upon power-up the watchdog signal is present.  Power up to 12-13 VAC, draws less than 0.5A.  On power down - a faint noise is heard.  This would probably be the 'shut down' sounds if the software were loaded?  There is no erratic forward or reverse movement.  The test track is approximately 5 feet in length.

All soldering, wire routing is good.  The tender and boiler shells are removed.  The white and yellow wires are properly soldered to the speaker.

Problem -  the speaker?

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks,

bruce
