The Illinois Railway Museum has a steam engine running again in regular service after ten years.The Frisco 1630 steam engine is back to giving visitors train rides at the museum.The IRM's website has an interesting report on all the last minute work that was done to have the engine ready for Memorial Day weekend.

Was out yesterday to IRM and 1630 was running beautifully, with a set of nice flailing rods without any clank - presume new bearings. One of the members noted she was completely rebuilt and operating at full boiler pressure. Real good!

I was out there on Saturday, and it was great to see her hot again. She looks and sounds wonderful. Kudos to the Steam Department!
