As far as items rusting away in the yard, we have to remember that Steamtown is not an independent agency and does not "own" the items.  As a unit of the National Park Service, the NPS management is caretaker for OUR property. Each citizen of the USA is part owner of the land, buildings and rolling stock.  It can all be preserved, but not all at the same time.  If you think more funds should be spent at the park, or spent differently, use your power as a citizen to inform your congressman.  You never know what might happen.

In 2004, I was told it would cost $35 million to restore everything.  Some projects funded by the stimulus package are still being worked on.  Where the future takes us depends on the whims of the taxpayers who do the actual funding of the projects.

Well, 50 mil would take care of the B&M Pacific and Brooks-Scanlon Prarie... and maybe CN 47? (That was the engine Nelson Blount started it all with up in New Hampshire!)

Here's a list and it's not the whims of the taxpayers but rather the whims of our big 'ole government:

Thanks for the pics - makes up for not getting out myself last weekend.  I liked the pics from within the Trolley Museum.  I've walked past the place a zillion times and wondered if it was actually ever open.
