Steel Toys was a business run by TCA member Pat Fusco. Does anyone have his Elevated Subway System that you could share a couple of pictures? This EL was handmade in his basement in Brooklyn.

I have lost contact with Pat and I believe his business was closed(or his activities directed elsewhere) several years ago. He was a staple in the Orange Hall for many years.

Thanks for any help.

Paul

Hi Brian:

That is a very generous offer and is much appreciated. I have enough to complete (I think) the loop in my future layout. It seems another forum member could use it on his layout so I will pass and hopefully you and he can arrange the transfer.

Still looking for any pictures that someone may have of this system being used. I know it was in past issues of OGR and CTT but that has to be at least ten years ago.

Once again thanks Brain for the offer.

All the best,

Paul

Thanks Paul. I look forward to meeting you soon. I had the chance to meet Capt. John last Saturday at Alex & Dina's open house event. Just a great guy.

If you did not notice, we changed our summer outing to September 21st (last official day of summer). We would live to have you come up for this event.

Brian and Alan - nice link on the mid America 3 railers. But I would like to find a group a little closer to home

Frank, thanks for the picture. I thought most of Pats Steel El was painted green? Did you repaint it yourself or is that the color Pat provided.

Charlie, if Pat stops in again tell him several people were asking about him. I (very briefly) worked with Pat helping him make different products in his basement. Pat is a character with a good heart and I hope he is doing well.

all the best,

Paul

Paul....Brian's suggestion to be part of the TCA is a good one.  BUT...I want you to know that our Mid America group, while we don't meet on a monthly basis, are focused on developing friendships across the country of like minded individuals that, for the most part, are specifically promoting the building of layouts and the hobby itself.  If you read the "about us" tab on our website, it spells out our mission.  Perhaps by being a member of our group, you would be able to have access to layout visits and invites that you may not normally.  AND....membership costs nothing!!

Alan

I've asked the head of the RI TCA numerous times about coming to visit my layout. No response. They have there monthly meetings on a night that I am working. I don't recall any other TCA members from RI on his forum. When I found  out Paul was so close I e-mailed him & he was here the following Sunday.

So if there are any fellow TCA members from RI here on the forum who would like to checkout my layout shoot me an e-mail. If not, life will go on.

Check these guys out as a possible alternative.  Their stuff is expensive, but very cool. I have worked with them in the past and been really happy.

Good luck with it!

Thanks Brian and Alan. I have been a TCA member for just under 15 years now. I will reach out to the SE Netca group and revisit the Mid America website. I do enjoy meeting like minded train people from all over the country.

I'm still a member of METCA even though I haven't lived in NY or NJ for many years. Like Capt John, I have not had any success getting responses from NETCA on emails I have sent on various occassions. Seems strange that a member would email offering to help an organization only to be met with the sounds of silence

For anyone in the area I can't recommend highly enough to take advantage of Capt Johns kind offer to visit. The only thing better than his majestic layout is the man himself. You can do a search here on OGR for a thread with pictures of his layout I took during one of my visits.

And you just can't go wrong with the BridgeBoss products. Once again the only thing better than their bridges are the people who build / sell them. Brian, if at all possible try and put the next TrainStock on your January calendar. The NJ HiRailers put on a show like no one else.

Frankly, at this point in my life I get more out of the people / friends I have met in this hobby than the trains themselves.

All the best,

Paul

Paul....Captain John along with all of our Mid America 3 Railer members are fine examples of how we want to share the hobby and help each other.  As our group gets larger in various parts of the country, the hope is that more members will find one another and make new friends...perhaps finding someone that was almost a neighbor and they never knew it!!

Alan

Paul,
it was green...I repainted it, weathered it, and added a whole lot of evergreen for catwalks and closer ties
