Couple of notes for everyone....

  1. If in doubt about the speed of your internet connection or the compatibility of your computer, place your bid absentee before the sale. This eliminates the chance of something lagging behind or freezing up come show time.
  2. If in doubt about condition or description of an item call us. That's what we are here for. Here in Indiana we are turning the building around on a 4 to 5 week schedule. Sometimes we simply do not have time to write down every single thing we see about an item. We are always happy to answer questions via phone and send additional photos if necessary. We also understand that the photos are lacking via the Ebay platform. We have complained more that once, but as with anything Ebay has been slow to change.
  3. General system notes. Our bidding platform that we brought online last December does work better through our website, we have had numerous reports that there is a lag between the system and the Ebay system. The speed at which we move through the auction exploits this weakness in Ebay. For the best results please go through our online catalog on our site.
  4. Internet Exploder. Our software provider has specifically said online bidders should use a browser such as Firefox or Chrome. Internet Explore does not work well at all in a real time environment.

Hope this helps you guys out in your future bidding with us. If you have direct questions feel free to call the Indiana office and ask for me.

Thanks,

Derek

....Just my experience, but they must be doing something right!

I can tell you, there were a few highly desirable items at the last auction.  And, on top of being desirable, they were in C9-10 Condition, some even sealed in the original shipping containers!  This alone fueled the bidding on those items.

As you know, it only takes 2 buyers who really want an item to increase the cost.  I was in that situation-I went for 3 specific lots and I was not leaving without them as I knew how rare they are, let alone in C9-10 condition.  Difficult to locate, if not impossible, but in C9-10-it doesn't happen.

Another example-a few of the 3rd Rail engines/cars.  Rare, hard to find, C9-10 condition, and 2 buyers knew it. The guy sitting next to me wasn't leaving without them!  And, he paid for them but got what he wanted.

I think they're doing a great job and have become my source for rare, hard to find items in the best condition available.

Westinghouse,

No at this time we do not. I wish we did. We have discussed it in the past, but at that time we just could not justify the cost of writing the code and implementing it. There is a possibility of this happening in the future with our new bidding platform and I will suggest the feature next time we talk with the developers.
