Greetings friends,

Last week I posted a photo showing a recently acquired Kibri signal man on my separate small Biller layout.  Today I'd like to share a photo of one of the wayside stations on that layout. I recently purchased for short money this Bing Wayside Station (note later Bing mark) that looks like any typical British wayside station as produced by Hornby, Wells Brimtoy and the like.  But the lithography is in German. Note the Sunlight Soap ad shown as Sunlicht Seife or the ad for Shokolade.  Does anyone have the British version?

Hello Lew,

I do also have a German Bing version, but with some different advertisement:

Bing made this small lithographed tinplate station for the lower range of gauge 0 clockwork trainsets. It was not available separately, but was included for instance in sets with catalogue number 11/3106 and 11/3107 for 1930.

And here is a picture of the English version (not mine):

Regards

Fred

Hello Lew,

Every few years the advertisements were changed. Bing and others have rented the space of the buildings. Long-built models have been changed several times. From the English Bing station 60/61 there are at least 5 versions.

Here a few small stations from Nurnberg

Distler, German adverts

Distler, UK adverts

The stations of Bing and Distler are very similar, one had copied from the other.

Arne's photos of course show several different wayside station styles. The Bing with German lettering has no ramps nor smokestack.  The Bing with UK adverts has ramps and a smokestack, but the Distler with  German lettering has ramps but no smokestack.  I assume that Arne's Bing examples have the Bing trademark.

I have a Fisher English wayside station with Uxbridge as the station name and the adverts in English, but is clearly labeled Made in Germany with a fish trademark.
